2012
Haydan enjoyed 2012 very much. Haydan’s laugh is so gorgeous
and very loud. He is always out to have fun with their large group of friends,
the same friends he and his twin Jordan have had since their first year of
school.
Regarding sport, Haydan very much enjoys playing Soccer, baseball, swimming and
has a new interest and skill in Basketball. This year they also starting
rollerskating and iceskating. It usually takes kids a few visits to get the
balance needed and to feel confident, not Haydan, he caught on very quickly,
racing around the rink in no time.
Haydan and his twin Jordan love to go “Go Carting”. They love it so much, every
weekend they’re asking to go. As a parent it is scary to watch at first as they
go so fast, but I got used to it. They have been going a couple of years
with their teenage cousin Dylan. The 3 are very competitive, but good pals.
On November 13th, Haydan and Jordan turned 10 and they celebrated with their
friends with a Laser Skirmish Party. The smiles on their faces and their friends
faces said everything. The day went well. Spending the next day with the
extended family to celebrate their birthday was extra special, they are all very
important to Haydan.
Heart wise Haydan had his annual Heart Check, an Echo and ECG were done. Haydan
also had a stress test done where they put all a cover on his head (I couldn't
have worn it, too claustrophobic). Hayds walked and ran, flat and in incline
position. They were extremely impressed, they told him to go till you get tired,
they ended up stopping him as he went for 15mins and didn't look like he was
going to stop in hurry! Blood results and ultrasound did show his liver was
slightly enlarged. They were not too alarmed though.

2013
2013 was a good year for
Haydan in many many ways. Academically, sport wise and fun wise. Haydan was
recognised for his hard efforts to improve his academics at school & was
presented with a Medallion & certificate at their School Presentation Day.
Heart wise, Haydan had his annual visit with Dr Sholler and had the usual, ECG
and Echo.Dr Sholler would like to move Hayds to Asprin instead of Warfarin, but
needs to confirm his Fenestration is closed, something they spent hours checking
to no avail, but very much to Hayds sadness, if even left bruises on his
chest...He also wants to move to the senior clinic, where the older kids go,
meaning no more Dr Sholler, his Sydney Cardiologist looking after him after each
trip to Melbourne coming back to Sydney after each Operation. Nervous.
Haydan also made it to Zone for swimming, for Backstroke, which is his best
stroke. He has a lot of upper body strength. He also went to Zone for Softball,
representing his school. A big big day, 6 games, then Semis, then he and Jords
made it into the Finals, winning all game, but loosing by one run at the final
minutes. They were the first in their school to ever make it into the Zone team.
Many sports provide a lot of joy in Haydan's life, softball, baseball,
rollerskating, iceskating, swimming, soccer, Oz Tag, Rock Climbing, and
athletics, where he excels in shot put, discus and long jump.
In November Haydan and Jordan turned 11. They celebrated with many friends
coming over for a pool Party at our House.
Only the weather decided to otherwise, raining and cold all day. They still had
a ball inside hanging with their friends.
Haydan lives a very normal life, I think its because he and his twin do
everything together and are competitive. I have never treated him different
since the day he was released from hospital, just before Xmas (yes!) , at 6 1/2
weeks old. Haydan is much bigger than his Fraternal twin Jordan. Much taller,
bigger feet, hands, everything.
While the twins often fight
at home, man they really do, when out and about, they are always bonding, its
fantastic to see.

2014, so far...
Our family has gone through a very big change
this year.
We have Moved from the only home our kids have
known, in Sydney NSW, moving to Wodonga Vic. They very much missed their
extended family, then they missed their pool and air-conditioning A LOT as the
first two week's were very hot, in the 40’s each day. It was hard, but thank
goodness we have all settled in now, but definitely have our sad days.
All our kids started their new school, nervously, and Annabelle our youngest
started her first year of school “Foundation”.
They have found it weird going from a school of 1100 kids to a school of just
300. Making friends was a little harder, but they all have plenty now.
Haydan has so far decided not to tell his
friends of his Heart Condition, but the school is very aware and action plans in
all important places. Haydan and Jordan were even chosen to represent their
school Anzac Day. Marching and then laying the Wreath at the Anzac Ceremony.
Very special indeed.
Haydan and Jordan also went on their second camp, their first at their new
school, but also it was a 2 night Recreational Camp. Haydan suffers from a
medium level of Separation Anxiety, especially when things are out of routine.
So this camp was a big step. But apparently the teachers were the most nervous,
one male teacher watching him that little bit extra to make sure there are no
injures, but Haydan was a star and all went very well, the second night his
anxiety kicked in but the familiar faces of the teachers helped calm him..On the
separation anxiety, it began after the Fontan Operation, his was just short of
4, but remembers a lot, most specifically the fact I left him at night when he
was in ICU. He would scream all night the nurses even got cranky at me as he was
so loud and its ICU (Which made me very emotional to say the least)and even
though I understood her point, it was something out of my hands and I was not
allowed to stay all night, so I would come first thing and leave at late as
permitted, which was the only option. He remembers it and is still cranky about
it. But I am very happy to say we are making moves from the anxiety, especially
since our move..
I must also add, Haydan is now seeing Dr Michal Cheung, we decided to transfer
from Westmead back to the RCH Melbourne. We had his first visit in March. Dr
Chueng who was also very happy with Haydan. I did mention although Haydan is
very active, some things he can’t play as long without a quick break. Also after
big sporting days, sometimes he wakes the next morning puffy around the eyes. It
disappears as the day goes on, but thought is worth mentioning. Its very rare.
Blood test did show his Liver is slightly enlarged. As he is new to Haydan, he
does want to see him in September for a quick follow up.
To be continued...
