Assistance and Services Directory: Northern Territory

NT Department of Health Public Hospitals

Hospitals in the NT provide general services ranging from primary screening and prevention to acute and chronic care. But with issues such as remoteness, a scattered population and the absence of alternative health care providers, hospitals in the Northern Territory also provide a series of non-acute services to their communities. There are a total of five public hospitals in the Northern Territory:

PATS

Patient Assistance Travel Scheme

  • Patient Assistance Travel Scheme (PATS)
    PATS is a subsidy program funded by the Northern Territory Government to provide financial assistance to Territorians who are referred by an approved practitioner to the nearest approved specialist medical service.
  • Carers NT
    Carers NT is the key organisation representing the Northern Territory’s estimated 30,000 family carers.
